My boyfriend bought me a BEAUTIFUL bouquet of roses for valentines day….?

and Im going to be sad when they die. I would really like to preserve them somehow but I dont want to squish them, just dry them out. I also dont want the petals to fall off. I heard that if you spray hairspray on them it will help, but I dont want to mess them up. Anyone have any suggestions?

Silica gel can be found in most garden centers, nurseries, florist, or hobby shops. It absorbs moisture from flowers rapidly, thus preserving flower color better than other drying methods. Most flowers will dry in 36 to 48 hours.

This link will give you several methods but I think the silica gel will work best.
PS I think it’s reusable.
It’s that little bag that comes in the bottom of packed items such medicines over the counter etc.
It’s a moisture absorbing agent.

I understand they need a touch of mystery to make it all exciting and stuff but what if the receiver mistakes it as being from someone else? Then gets in a relationship with them and breaks the person it really came from heart. I feel sad thinking about it T_T

Yeah, that is a good point. But someone can be too shy to be declined, so send out the roses to the person they love and wait and see what will happen and they would take some reaction according to the receiver’s action. In this sense, this can be understood.

I want to be unique for this Valentines. Whats common right now is a dozen red roses, or 2 dozen red roses.

I want to be unique. Like I saw 5-6 foot roses somewhere on the internet. One other person suggested 100 roses. Another one suggested roses in a heart form.
And yes, this is disregarding the price. Price is not an issue.

I think it would be most creative/unique to do an arrangement NOT made of roses, or to do a more unusual breed of roses…

Latin Ladies are stunning in my opinion, red on the tops of the petals, and white on the bottoms. (they are also called fire and ice)

How can I save my valentines day roses?

I want to preserve the flowers my boyfriend gave me for valentines day. Right now they are in a vase with water and have blossmed beautifully. Should I just take apart the petals and put them in a frame? Or just place the buds under some books untill the flatten?

Or is there something else I could do? Any advice is greatly appreciated.

One way to preserve flowers and use in crafts is by hanging them to dry. If you decide to preserve your flowers whole, and intact, you will need to decide this before they have fully bloomed. If a flower has opened up too much, when it is dried the petals will fall off. The brighter and more vivid the fresh flower is, the better color it will have as it dries. If you want more intense colors, be sure to start with that trait in the fresh flower. If the dried flower will be used with it’s stem, it would be best to wire the stem while the flower is still fresh. Then attach the flower, upside down, to a wire hanger and leave in a dark place for two to three weeks. If the dried flowers will be stored a while before use, cover them with a light material, such as tissue paper to keep the dust off.

Flowers preserved in this way can be used for a variety of purposes. For a special event, such as a wedding, some people want to preserve their bouquets. After following drying instructions bouquets can be placed as a wall hanging next to the wedding photo, in a shadow box, or simply placed on a table or in a hutch. After flowers are dried they can also be put back in a vase and set on a table. If a single flower is preserved, perhaps to save on space, it can be laid over the wedding frame on in front of the wedding photo. Individually dried flowers can also be used when making a wreath.

Should I give my friends, who are girls, roses for Valentines day?

I bought a bouquet of roses today and I want to separate them and give 1 to each of my friends who are girls. I am going to give one to each of the girls who are single, but then thought I should also give one to the ones who are not. Just as a nice gesture as a friends, no romantic intentions. Would this be appropriate or do you think any of them would take this the wrong way?

I think that’s sweet and as long as your giving it to all your girl friends I don’t think it would be takin the wrong way, or atleast it shouldn’t be.

im planning to buy a dozen roses for valentines day, but if i order them now, wont they die by the time it gets to that day? what else can i do? if i wait too long then they might get sold out! is there like a…flower chamber machine to keep them in to last longer or something hah?

order like a couple of days before valentines day.They wont die when u get them you will probably have plant food with it which u pour the white powder into the water and make sure its in sunlight in vase if your friend or girlfriend wants to really take care of them.
